Over the past few decades, Dermal Filler treatments have become the go-to treatment for adding volume and subtly balancing facial features. The treatment continues to rise in popularity however, it’s important to know what to expect following a session of dermal fillers to avoid enhancing side effects or irritating the treated area.
In this guide, our injectable treatment specialists cover everything you should and shouldn’t do following a dermal filler treatment to ensure quick and effective results.
Although exercising is an essential part of a routine for some, please refrain from any strenuous physical activity for at least 48 hours following treatment. As your filler will be injected into your face, bruising is often caused by breaking the blood vessels.
These blood vessels can heal and recover quickly, however, strenuous exercise will increase your heart rate. Doing this will make the vessels more visible, resulting in delayed bruising following your treatment. Therefore, we recommend keeping your blood pressure as low as you can to let your facial rejuvenation work its magic.
To give your dermal fillers the best opportunity to provide the results you need, stay hydrated on the day of your treatment and the days following. Although this is something doctors recommend anyway, keep your water intake up in the days following your treatment to achieve the best results.
Now if there was a time to celebrate, it would be for achieving your new and improved, desired look. With that said, we recommend holding off the celebrations and any intake of alcohol for the 24 hours prior to and following your dermal filler treatment.
Alcohol is known to thin the blood which can lead to prolonged side effects. Drinking alcohol before or after your treatment within 24 hours will significantly prolong the healing process.
We strongly recommend against hot environments such as being out in the sun, tanning beds, saunas or hot tube journeys for the first 48 hours following treatment. This doesn’t mean avoiding the sun and sitting in the dark for two days.
For peace of mind, plan to have your treatment in the colder months of the year or at a time when you can stay home and recover.
We hope that the information above has helped to ease any concerns related to aftercare for dermal filler treatments. As previously mentioned, it is an extremely popular treatment that can provide incredible volume and balance to your face.
